Ladycats beat Belfry for fifth straight win

BETSY LAYNE – Betsy Layne beat visiting Belfry 43-39 in a 15th Region girls’ basketball meeting at the Dome on Tuesday night.

The Ladycats and Lady Pirates met for a non-district game.

Determined Betsy Layne claimed its fifth straight win, improving to 13-10 thanks to the victory.

Belfry dropped to 9-10 with the loss.

Betsy Layne shot 44.7 percent (17-of-38) from the field. The Ladycats went 1-of-6 from 3-point range,.

Betsy Layne finished 8-of-19 (42.1 percent) from the free throw line.

Megan Frazier paced Betsy Layne with 17 points. Joining Frazier in double figures and posting a double-double, Emily Kidd scored 15 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for the Ladycats.

Destiny Compton scored six points, Katie Tackett tossed in three points and Alex Sisco added two pints for Betsy Layne in the win.

Betsy Layne is scheduled to host Shelby Valley on Friday night. Tip-off for the Betsy Layne-Shelby Valley girls’ basketball game is set for 7:30 p.m.

The Ladycats are slated visit Jenkins on Saturday night. Tip-off for the Betsy Layne-Jenkins girls’ basketball game is set for 6 p.m.
