HI HAT – Host South Floyd fell behind and couldn’t recover in a late-season game against former former 14th Region powerhouse Perry County Central. Visiting Perry County Central pulled away to defeat the Lady Raiders 65-52 in a girls’ high school basketball game at Raider Arena on Thursday night.
Familiar foes, South Floyd and Perry County Central hail from neighboring regions.
With the loss, South Floyd slipped to 8-12.
Perry County Central improved to 12-7 with the win.
South Floyd shot 45 percent (18-of-40) from the field. The Lady Raiders finished 1-for-5 (20 percent) from 3-point range.
South Floyd shot 68.2 percent (15-of-22) from the free throw line.
Cheyenne Light led South Floyd in scoring, posting 13 points. Accompanying Light in double figures, Katie Moore scored 10 points for the Lady Raiders.
Taylor Berger chipped in eight points and pulled down a game-high 18 rebounds for South Floyd in the loss. Berger remains one of the top rebounders in the state.
Other scorers for the Lady Raiders were Brooke Potter (seven points), Leighann Hall (six points), Jesse Tackett (six points) and Brooke Stumbo (two points). Earlier in the month, Hall scored her 1,000th career point.
The Lady Raiders and Lady Commodores met for the second time in the 2015-16 season. South Floyd edged Perry County Central 65-62 in a season-opener on Nov. 30.
Both South Floyd and Perry County Central will make postseason debuts next week.
