JENKINS – Betsy Layne pulled away to beat host Jenkins 79-56 in a boys’ high school basketball game on Saturday.
The victory allowed Betsy Layne to halt a losing skid which spanned four games.
With the win, Betsy Layne improved to 10-17.
Jenkins dropped to 1-24 with the loss.
Betsy Layne shot 52.8 percent (28-of-53) from the field. The Bobcats finished 4-of-12 (33.3 percent) from 3-point range.
Betsy Layne shot 68.8 percent (22-of-32) from the free throw line.
Dominating inside, Betsy Layne pulled down 47 total rebounds.
Betsy Layne featured four scorers in double figures. Leading Betsy Layne to the win, Kyle Watkins scored 15 points.
Accompanying Watkins in double figures, Jakob Ariaz scored 14 points, Zach Hamilton tossed in 11 points and Lance Hall added 10 points for the Bobcats.
Hamilton registered a double-double, grabbing 10 rebounds for Betsy Layne in the winning effort.
Grant Osborn scored eight points, while Morris Adkins and Nathaniel Mims added seven points apiece for the Bobcats,
Other scorers for Betsy Layne were Byron Hammond (four points), Kyle Evans (two points), Dustin Tackett (two points), Quintin Adkins (one point) and Milton Mahan (one point).
Betsy Layne overcame 13 turnovers.
The Bobcats entered the week with regular-season games remaining versus Johnson Central and Jenkins. Betsy Layne is scheduled to visit Johnson Central on Wednesday then host Jenkins for a regular-season finale Thursday.
