Shepherd, Arthur share ALC Female Athlete of the Week honor

Floyd County native Amber Shepherd continues to excel for the Alice Lloyd College women’s basketball team.


Alice Lloyd College sophomore Taylor Arthur registered a triple-double during a recent win.


PIPPA PASSES – Floyd County native Amber Shepherd and Laurel County product Taylor Arthur share Alice Lloyd College Female Athlete of the Week honors.

Shepherd, a junior who graduated from Johnson Central High School in Paintsville, was solid as she led the Lady Eagles to a conference split during the week and two wins total.

In the important 61-54 victory over KIAC foe Cincinnati Christian University, Shepherd scored 26 points on 6-of-15 field goals(4-of-9 from 3-point range) while adding eight rebounds and two assists.

In a disappointing 65-56 loss to Rio Grande University, Shepherd scored eight points and grabbed three rebounds.

In the road victory at Welch College, Shepherd pumped in 12 points, pulled down four rebounds, recorded three steals and dished out assists.

Arthur, a sophomore out of London, scored 20 points while connecting on 7-of-11 field goal attempts and finishing 6-of-6 from the free throw. The productive Arthur also delivered 14 rebounds and blocked 11 shots to register a rare triple-double.
