EASTERN – Four players reached double figures in the scoring column as Allen Central topped visiting Phelps 77-50 in a 15th Region boys’ basketball matchup on Wednesday night.
With the win, Allen Central improved to 14-14.
Phelps dropped to 6-20 with the loss.
The Rebels moved ahead early, outscoring Phelps 17-2 in the first quarter. Allen Central carried a commanding 41-16 lead into halftime and led 61-34 at the conclusion of the third period.
Bret Samons and Cameron Blevins led a balanced Allen Central scoring attack with 14 points apiece.
Cameron Nelson scored 13 points and Seth Hall added 11 points for the Rebels.
In all, 11 Rebels broke into the scoring column. Additional scorers for Allen Central were Dillon Caudill (six points), Kolby Slone (five points), Chris Brown (five points), Chase Caudill (three points), Bailey Wright (two points), Sam Conley (two points) and Cody Haddix (two points).
Christian Mounts paced Phelps with a game-high 15 points. Cameron Hess was the only other Hornet to reach double figures, posting 12 points in the loss.
Phelps lost to a Floyd County foe for the second straight game. In a game on the road in Hi Hat one day earlier, South Floyd defeated the Hornets 70-58.
