MOREHEAD – The Morehead State University football program has received a national Academic Progress Rate (APR) award from the Football Championship Subdivision Athletic Directors Association (FCS ADA).
The APR Award, sponsored by Forward Progress Athletics Consulting, recognizes one institution at each of the 13 FCS conferences that has the highest APR score. In addition, the association also recognizes one institution from each conference that has improved the most from the previous year.
Morehead State made the greatest improvement among the 11 Pioneer Football League institutions in its APR score in the past reporting year. The program won the award, which began in 2010, for the first time.
NCAA member colleges and universities adopted a comprehensive academic reform package several years ago designed to improve the academic success and graduation of all student-athletes. The centerpiece of the package is the academic measurement for teams, known as the APR.
Now in its 22nd year, the FCS ADA’s mission is to enhance Football Championship Subdivision football. The FCS ADA is administered by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics, which is in its 50th year.
