HI HAT – Tyler Preston scored a career-high 31 points to lead host South Floyd past Piarist School 71-34 in its regular-season finale at Raider Arena on Friday night.
With the win, South Floyd improved to 16-12.
Piarist School dropped to 0-24 with the loss.
The reigning 58th District champion, South Floyd excelled throughout the non-district matchup, thriving both offensively and defensively.
South Floyd shot 35.1 percent (27-of-77) from the field. The Raiders were 15-of-54 (27.8) from 3-point range.
South Floyd finished 2-of-2 from the free throw line.
The hot-shooting Preston drained seven 3-pointers for the Raiders.
Accompanying Preston in double figures for homestanding South Floyd, Brady Ousley scored 11 points.
Flirting with double figures for the Raiders, Andrew Tackett tossed in nine points.
Additional scorers for South Floyd were Poppa Trammell (six points), Hunter Johnson (five points), JR Tackett (three points), Brady Conn (two points), James Isaac (two points) and Blade Slone (two points).
Two players combined to score all of Piarist School’s points in the setback.
Skylar Williams paced Piarist with a double-double, scoring 20 points and grabbing a game-high 13 rebounds. Williams drained five 3-pointers.
Joining Williams in double figures, Brennan Mullins scored 14 points for the Knights.
Familiar foes, South Floyd and Piarist are former 58th District/Floyd County Conference rivals.
