The Adams Middle School C-Team finished its season undefeated with a record of 25-0.


PRESTONSBURG – The Adams Middle School C-Team completed an undefeated season with a record of 25-0. Adams by defeating Betsy Layne to claim the Floyd County Middle School title and finished the perfect season.

Floyd County Tournament results for the AMS C-Team follow.

Adams 32, Allen Central 18: Colby Fugate and Peyton Burke both hit double figures for Adams to lead the Blackcats to a victory over Allen Central in the opening round of the Floyd County Tournament.

Fugate scored 13 points and Burke contributed 10 points for the Blackcats in the win.

Matt Burchett had a strong floor game for the Blackcats, dishing out eight assists and scoring two points.

Garrett Compton, Isiah Collins and Jacob Rainey also cracked the scoring column for the victorious Blackcats.

Adams 41, South Floyd 16: Adams jumped out to a quick lead over South Floyd and never looked back as it moved into the championship came of the Floyd County Middle School Tournament. Eight different players got in the scoring column for the Blackcats in the victory.

Adams 36: Betsy Layne 27: Adams trailed for the first time all season season as it entered the fourth quarter. The Blackcats, however, used a tremendous defensive effort and clutch shooting to outscore the Bobcats 20-8 in the fourth quarter alone to pull away for a nine-point victory in the Floyd County Tournament title game.

Colby Fugate scored 14 points of his game-high 20 points in the fourth quarter to pace the Adams C-Team.

Isiah Collins and Peyton Burke chipped in eight points each for the Blackcats.

AMS C-Team members are Colby Fugate, Isiah Collins, Peyton Burke, Matt Burchett, Jacob Rainey, Will Nairn, Zach Cline, Jacob Rowe, Garrett Compton, Ben Burchett and Cameron Zimmerman.

Doug Hopkins, Chuck Rowe and Justin Allen coach the AMS C-Team.
