Boyette, four UPIKE teammates claim academic honors

PIKEVILLE – Five University of Pikeville cheerleading student-athletes earned Academic All Mid-South Conference honors, league officials announced on Tuesday.

In order to be nominated by an institution, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved at least sophomore academic status.

Earning the honor from UPIKE were Betsy Layne High School graduate Olivia Boyette, Shannon Howder, Caitlin Hunt, Jessalyn Hunter and Kaci Nicole Wilcox. For seniors Hunter and Wilcox, this is their third straight academic honor from the conference, while Howder, a junior, earns her second straight.
