COLUMBIA – Mid-South Conference Commissioner Eric Ward announced the expansion of the conference Wednesday with the addition of two institutions as affiliate members in three different sports.
The Mid-South Conference Council of Presidents approved Truett-McConnell (Ga.) as an affiliate member in wrestling and Lindenwood-Belleville (Ill.) as an affiliate member in men and women’s swimming and men and women’s bowling. Both teams begin play in the Mid-South in 2015-16.
“The Mid-South Conference is excited and proud to welcome Truett-McConnell College and Lindenwood University-Belleville as affiliate members,” Ward said. “The Mid-South Conference just got stronger in wrestling, swimming and bowling with their addition.
“We look forward to working with their coaches and administrators in these respective sports, and expect their teams to be very competitive.”
Truett-McConnell – located in Cleveland, Georgia – becomes the seventh school in the MSC to sponsor wrestling, joining Campbellsville, Cumberland, Cumberlands, Life, Lindsey Wilson and St. Catharine.
Lindenwood-Belleville – located in Belleville, Illinois – is the 10th MSC school to sponsor bowling, joining Bethel (Tenn.), Campbellsville, Cumberland, Cumberlands, Life, Lindsey Wilson, Pikeville, St. Catharine and Union.
The Lynx are the seventh school in the Mid-South to sponsor swimming, joining Bethel, Campbellsville, Cumberlands, Life, Lindsey Wilson, and St. Catharine.
With the addition of Truett-McConnell and Lindenwood-Belleville, the Mid-South Conference boasts seven affiliate members to go along with its nine full members.
