LEXINGTON – Shelby Valley senior Hunter Swindall has been named the 15th Region Boys’ Basketball Player of the Year.
The Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches (KABC) has named its 2016 players of the year in each of the state’s 16 regions.
Through the regular-season (27 games), Swindall averaged 26.8 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, leading Shelby Valley in both scoring and rebounding.
Shelby Valley lost to East Ridge in the first round of the 59th District Boys’ Basketball Tournament. East Ridge edged the Wildcats 53-50 in the opening round of the 59th District Tournament on its home court in Lick Creek.
The 2016 KABC Boys’ Regional Players of the Year award-winners are as follows – Region 1: James Boone (Murray); Region 2: Tyrik Edwards (Christian County); Region 3: Stewart Currie (Daviess County); Region 4: Wade Coomer (Barren County); Region 5: Mason Faulkner (Caverna); Quentin Goodin (Taylor County); Region 6: Tyler Sharpe (Bullitt East); Region 7: Alex Cook (Male); Region 8: Carson Williams (Owen County); Region 9: Ben Weyer (Newport Central Catholic); Region 10: Matt Wilson (Campbell County); Region 11: Darius Williams (Paul Laurence Dunbar), Isaiah Tisdale (Henry Clay); Region 12: Trey Blevins (Wayne County); Region 13: Caleb Taylor (South Laurel); Region 14: Conner Hoskins (Buckhorn); Region 15: Hunter Swindall (Shelby Valley); Region 16: Jordan Perry (Morgan County).
