Familiar foes, Allen Central and Shelby Valley are longtime non-district rivals.
With the win, Allen Central improved to 3-1.
Shelby Valley dropped to 3-1 with the loss.
The Wildcats slipped into the loss column after posting wins over a trio of Virginia opponents.
Allen Central starting pitcher Matt Combs earned the win.
Finishing strong on the mound for homestanding Allen Central, reliever Cameron Blevins picked up the save.

Blevins and Wyatt Crisp, two of the top three hitters for the Allen Central baseball club, accounted for over half of the Rebels’ runs.
Allen Central limited Shelby Valley at the plate when it counted the most. The Wildcats struggled to produce late in the non-district contest.
Leading Allen Central offensively, Dustin Johnson, one of the 15th Region’s most underrated baseball players, finished 3-for-4 with four RBIs.
Turning in a multi-hit game of his own, Blevins went 2-for-3 .
Kane Taylor was 1-for-3 with two RBIs for the Rebels in the victory.
Another Allen Central hitter, Austin Lawson, drove in one run for the Rebels.
Crisp, Steven Howard, Cameron Nelson and Bret Samons added one hit apiece in Allen Central’s winning effort.
Allen Central is scheduled to visit Shelby Valley for a late-season game on May 18.
