HINDMAN – The Allen Central Rebels remained in the win column on the road on Monday, defeating host Knott County Central 7-4 in a high school baseball game.
With the win, Allen Central improved to 4-1.
Knott County Central opened its season 0-1 with the loss.
Allen Central hurler Wyatt Crisp claimed the win. His teammate, Dustin Johnson, earned the save.
Knott County Central pitcher Luke Jacobs absorbed the loss.
Crisp faced 17 batters, striking out three and walking four while giving up four hits and two earned runs.
Johnson came on to relieve Crisp in the fifth inning. Over the fifth and sixth innings, Johnson struck out two, walked one, gave up five hits and allowed only one run.
Steven Howard came in to close the game out in the seventh inning, facing seven batters. Howard struck out two, walked two, allowed two hits and gave up one run.
Several players contributed offensively for the Rebels.
Bret Samons scored twice with one hit and one walk for the Rebels.
Helping his pitching cause at the plate, Crisp went 3-for-4 with two singles, one double and an RBI.
Johnson finished 1-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.
Cameron Blevins went 1-for-4 with one run and an RBI.
Providing a lift in the field, Howard stopped a Knott County Central player attempting to score on a hit into right field with a perfect throw to catcher Kane Taylor at the plate.
Allen Central is slated to host Knott County Central on April 21.
