CAMPBELLSVILLE – The University of Pikeville women’s golf team struggled on day two of the Mid-South Conference Spring Invitational, shooting 360 as a team to drop back one spot to sixth place at the Campbellsville Country Club on Tuesday.
The Bears shot 340 during the first 18 holes to wrap up play in fifth place, but added 20 strokes to their score on Tuesday to finish with a team score of 700.
Brittany Brophy fared the best, tying for 20th place overall with a two-day total of 171 (82-89). Ayla Rhinesmith also shot 89 on Tuesday, wrapping up the invite in a tie for 27th place with 175 strokes. Ashley Veach was close behind with a 178 (87-91).
Rounding out the UPIKE scoresheet were Bethany Jervis (85-94) and Christen Cropper (88-91), both shooting 179’s overall.
Cumberlands won the team title with a score of 637 (318-319), followed by Campbellsville in second with a 658 (319-339) and Lindsey Wilson rounding out the top three with a 666 (329-337).
Campbellsville’s Cassidy Scantland took medalist honors after carding a 152 with rounds of 73-79.
UPIKE will return to the course with its Spring Invitational at StoneCrest Golf Course in Prestonsburg on Saturday and Sunday.
