CAMPBELLSVILLE – Led by Burgess Clark tying for 14th place overall with a two-day total of 152 (78-74) strokes, the University of Pikeville men’s golf team shot the low round of the day with a 303 to finish fourth of nine at the Mid-South Conference Spring Invitational on Tuesday at the Campbellsville Country Club.
The Bears shot 615 strokes overall, as Cumberlands won the event with a 597 (291-306), Lindsey Wilson finished second with a 601 (294-307) and Cumberland (Tenn.) rounded out the top three a stroke in front of UPIKE with a 614 (305-309).
Backing up Clark for UPIKE were Will Boyd and Saulomon Lanigan tying for 19th place overall with scores of 153 overall. Boyd shot 75-78, while Lanigan carded scores of 80 and 73.
Tyler Smith finished just outside the top 25 in 26th place with a score of 157 (79-78).
Lindsey Wilson’s Jonathan Grabara took medalist honors with rounds of 68 and 75 to shoot 143 overall.
UPIKE is back in action this weekend with its Spring Invitational at StoneCrest Golf Course in Prestonsburg on Saturday and Sunday.
