BETSY LAYNE – Betsy Layne will host a four-team high school football scrimmage on Friday, Aug. 14. Lawrence County, Pike County Central and Knott County Central will visit Betsy Layne and join the Bobcats for a preseason scrimmage in less than two weeks.
Betsy Layne, under the direction of veteran head coach Jonathan Parsons, concluded the 2014 season 6-5. The Bobcats lost to host Danville in the opening round of the Class 2A State Playoffs.
Betsy Layne is scheduled to open the 2015 season on the road at South Floyd Aug. 21.
Lawrence County concluded the 2014 campaign 9-4 following a loss to Belfry in the Class 3A, Region 4 championship game. The Bulldogs are under the direction of head coach Joey Cecil, a former Betsy Layne Bobcat.
Lawrence County is slated to kick off the 2015 season versus Boyd County Aug. 21.
Pike County Central exited 2014 with a 6-6 record after falling to district rival Belfry in the second round of the Class 3A State Playoffs. Head coach Shawn Thacker is guiding the Hawks in his second year at the Buckleys Creek-based school.
Pike County is preparing to meet host Letcher County Central in the Sports “R” Us Kickoff Classic Aug. 21.
Knott County Central missed out on reaching the Class 3A State Playoffs in 2014, concluding the campaign with a 1-9 overall record. First-year head coach John Chapman is set to guide the Patriots in his first season in Hindman.
Knott County Central is poised to host East Ridge in its season-opener Aug. 21.
