BUCKLEYS CREEK – Allen Central halted a three-game losing skid on Monday night, outlasting host Pike County Central 11-10 in a 15th Region baseball matchup.
With the win, Allen Central improved to 13-5.
Pike County Central dropped to 8-9 with the loss.
A pair of Allen Central pitchers took to the mound during the non-district game, helping to lift the Rebels to the victory.
Allen Central pitcher Rico Dominguez claimed the win.
Finishing strong on the hill, Rebel hurler Steven Howard earned the save.
Pike County Central pitcher Evan Coleman suffered the loss.
Longtime 15th Region rivals, the Allen Central (58th District) and Pike County Central (60th District) baseball teams met for the first time in the 2016 season.
The Hawks started strong. Homestanding Pike County Central, however, was held scoreless in each of the last two innings.
Determined Allen Central plated one run in the top half of the sixth inning to post the win.
At the plate for the Rebels, Seth Hall delivered four singles.
Howard drilled a double for the Rebels, who returned to the win column after dropping three games in the Big Sandy Bash at Lawrence County Friday-Saturday. Allen Central lost games to Garrard County, Boyd County and Lawrence County during the Big Sandy Bash.
A former 15th Region champion, Allen Central is scheduled to host Pike County Central on Friday. First pitch for the upcoming Allen Central-Pike County Central baseball game is set for 6 p.m. at Drift Field.
