PRESTONSBURG – Junior Nick Rowe pitched a no-hitter to lead the Prestonsburg Blackcats past the South Floyd Raiders 13-0 in five innings in the second game of a 58th District baseball doubleheader on Thursday.
Prestonsburg, under the direction of head coach Shawn Hager, won via the Kentucky High School Athletic Association’s Mercy Rule.
Rowe dominated South Floyd batters. Strong on the mound throughout the five-inning 58th District baseball game, Rowe registered 11 strikeouts.
Reece Ison delivered two hits and a pair of RBIs for the Blackcats.
Rowe helped his cause at the plate, smacking a double and driving in one run.
Scott Stapleton added a double and two RBIs for the Blackcats.
Ryne Slone provided one hit and two RBIs as the Blackcats pulled away to win convincingly.
Bailey Slone, Zion Echols, Tanner Hicks, Dawson Hamilton, Cameron Blackburn and Aaron Shepherd added one hit apiece for Prestonsburg in the district triumph.
The Blackcats had shut out South Floyd 11-0 in five innings in the first game of the 58th District baseball doubleheader.
