MINNIE – South Floyd notched its second straight win earlier in the week, edging visiting East Ridge 12-11 in eight innings in a non-district high school softball game at Minnie Park on Monday.
With the win, South Floyd improved to 9-11.
East Ridge slipped to 10-17 with the loss.
South Floyd pitcher Leighann Hall earned the win.
East Ridge hurler Hannah Coleman suffered the loss.
The determined Lady Raiders plated one run in the bottom half of the eighth inning to claim the victory. Scott Shannon-coached South Floyd dealt East Ridge its fifth consecutive loss.
Brooke Potter, Nikki Johnson, Brandy Osborne, Katie Moore and Melanie Osborne scored two runs apiece for the Lady Raiders in the victory.
Hall and Sydney Hall added one run apiece. Another player in the productive South Floyd batting order, Kailey Shannon, contributed as well.
The Lady Raiders remained in the win column after topping Prestonsburg 13-4 on Thursday, May 5.
Rebounding fast, East Ridge returned to the win column on Tuesday, defeating 59th District foe Shelby Valley 13-3 in five innings.
South Floyd was hosting Belfry on Thursday (May 12). Results from the South Floyd-Belfry softball game were unavailable at press time.
The Lady Raiders are slated to entertain Jackson City in a home finale on Friday. First pitch for the South Floyd-Jackson City softball game is set for 6 p.m. in Minnie.
