HI HAT – South Floyd High School senior Andrew Tackett made his college choice official on Wednesday morning, signing to play college basketball for nearby Alice Lloyd College.
ALC Coach J.R. Hammond was among those in attendance for Tackett’s signing. South Floyd Coach Justin Holbrook was quick to compliment Tackett, who led the Raiders to back-to-back 58th District championships.
“Andrew accomplished one of his goals today and that was to play basketball at the next level,” Holbrook said. “He is one of the hardest working kids I’ve ever been around on and off the court. He will be successful at Alice Lloyd because of his determination to succeed on the court and off. I want to thank Alice Lloyd, Coach Hammond for giving Andrew this opportunity. Andrew represented his school, coaching staff and community with class and he will be sorely missed.”
As a senior, Tackett led the Raiders in scoring, averaging 19 points per game. Tackett, who scored 569 points in 30 games, ranked second in rebounding, grabbing 6.4 boards per game for the Raiders during the 2015-16 campaign.
Under the direction of head coach J.R. Hammond, Alice Lloyd finished runner-up to familiar rival Cincinnati Christian in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) and made an appearance in the NCCAA National Tournament in the 2015-16 season. The Eagles compiled an 18-16 record in their latest campaign.
