HINDMAN – On May 21, the Tug Valley Bass Anglers held its fourth tournament of the 2016 season on Carr Fork Lake. A total of 31 anglers competed in the event. In the end, Floyd County native Johnny Webb won the tournament.
Carr Fork Lake was at summer pool with clear water on the entire lake and a water temperature of around 70 degrees.
Weather for the tournament was solidwith partly cloudy skies, a light breeze and an air temperature around 75 degrees.
The fishing for this tournament was good with a fair number of keeper fish being weighed in.
The fish were mostly post spawn, some were still on the shallower banks and others were suspended on deeper banks.
The main pattern for this tournament was to fish around wood cover on shallower and deep banks with minnow imitation baits.
The top finishers were as follows: 1st – Johnny Webb (4 fish), 9.65 lbs.; 2nd – Don Taylor (4 fish), 7.25 lbs.; 3rd – Kevin Marcum (3 fish), 6.61 lbs.; 4th – Timmy Robinson (3 fish), 6.27 lbs.; 5th – Timmy Marcum (2 fish), 5.34 lbs.; 6th – Tommy Hopkins (2 fish), 4.50 lbs.; 7th – Brandon Staten (2 fish), 4.10 lbs.; 8th – Lacy Edmiston (2 fish), 3.83 lbs.; 9th – Caleb Spencer (1 fish), 2.47 lbs.; 10th – Gary Varney (1 fish), 2.36 lbs.
