BOWLING GREEN – At the Mid-South Conference’s annual summer meetings on Wednesday, University of Pikeville head athletic trainer Erica Pitt received the Above and Beyond award.

The award is presented to an athletic trainer for exceptional care and performance in their field. The Above & Beyond Award is voted on by the MSC’s Medical Aspects Committee.

“We are blessed to have top-notch athletic trainers in our conference,” said MSC commissioner Eric Ward. “Erica has provided outstanding service to not only student-athletes on her campus, but to a number of student-athletes throughout the conference. She has demonstrated great dedication to her profession and we appreciate her efforts throughout the season.”

Pitt was a co-recipient of the honor as Campbellsville’s Derek Port was also recognized for his dedication to the league’s student-athletes.

This is the first season that Pitt has held the title of head athletic trainer for the Bears after serving the previous four seasons as an assistant in the department.
