Colonel Caravan visits Pikeville

Staff Report

PIKEVILLE – Few areas represent Eastern Kentucky University’s service region as well as Pikeville. On Thursday, June 9, several EKU head coaches and athletics administrators met with a group of alumni, supporters and Colonel Club members during the Colonel Caravan stop in Pikeville at the Landmark Inn.

The group included director of athletics Stephen Lochmueller and head coaches Mark Elder (football), Jane Worthington (softball), Edwin Thompson (baseball), Nick Flohre (soccer) and Lori Duncan (volleyball).

In addition to its stop in Pikeville, the Colonel Caravan has also visited northern Kentucky and Ashland in recent weeks. Future stops include Louisville, Lexington and Somerset.

“We were very excited to take today’s trip deep into Eastern Kentucky University’s service region,” EKU Deputy Director of Athletics Matt Roan said on Thursday. “We want to be eastern Kentucky’s team. The supporters we met today will help us strengthen our fan base in this part of the Commonwealth.”
