ALLEN – A Floyd County boys’ basketball player now owns an offer from a Southeastern Conference (SEC) program. Wesley Christian School rising junior Christian Lorng picked up an offer from Missouri over the weekend.
Lorng, a 6-9 forward from Ivory Coast who grew up in France, holds additional offers from Middle Tennessee State and UAB. Missouri offered Lorng while he was attending a camp at the school on Saturday.
Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Murray State and Eastern Kentucky are also showing an interest in the Wesley Christian boys’ basketball player.
“We are proud of Christian and his success rate this summer,” first-year Wesley Christian Coach David Meddings commented. “Picking up an offer from an SEC school is a big deal to him, our program and the community around Wesley Christian School.”
Several of Lorng’s teammates are also receiving recruiting interest.
“We have some talented kids coming in for next season and Christian will be one of many players bringing some of the best coaches in the country to Allen next season,” Meddings added. “I have been told by 30-plus Division One programs who will have a member of their staff in our gym in the fall.
“There’s exciting things going on here and Christian being offered by an SEC school here in SEC country is just the beginning.”
Lorng will make his official 2016-17 season debut for the Wesley Christian boys’ basketball program in the fall.
