SITKA – Floyd County driver Ervin Vance continued his dominance at 201 Speedway on Friday night, winning the Thunder in the Mountains feature race at the Johnson County track.

With the victory, Vance claimed a $3,000 winner’s check. Vance put the P20 Modified in victory lane as part of the annual Bob Miller Memorial event.

One of the state’s top Modified drivers, Vance has enjoyed success at multiple tracks during the current season.

In the Late Model class, Carter County driver Jackie Boggs prevailed, claiming first-place in the $10,000-to-win feature race.

A veteran Floyd County driver, Vance outlasted Boggs’ 4D car to the finish line in the Modified feature race, which featured 20 cars in its starting field.

Vance, Boggs and Magoffin County driver Michael Paul Howard (24H) won heat races in the Modified class.

The starting field for the Thunder in the Mountains feature race included several Floyd County drivers. More on the feature event and 201 Speedway’s Modified class will appear in Friday’s edition of The Times.
