HI HAT – The South Floyd High School football program will host Meet the Raiders on Aug. 14. Fans and members of the media are invited to the event.
Meet the Raiders will feature a dunking booth, inflatable bounce house and music from a local band.
New head coach Chad Hall is set to guide the Raiders in the 2015 season. Hall guided the Allen Central baseball program as its head coach in 2014 and boasts previous coaching experience as an assistant coach on the gridiron.
Following a preseason scrimmage versus Powell County on Aug. 15, South Floyd will kick off its 2015 season with a home game. The Raiders will host Floyd County foe Betsy Layne for a season-opener on Aug. 21.
One week after hosting Betsy Layne for a season-opener, South Floyd will entertain Harlan on Aug. 28.
The remainder of South Floyd’s regular-season schedule will include additional home games versus Twin Valley (Va.), Hazard and Phelps.
South Floyd will venture to Knott County Central, Allen Central, Pikeville, Jenkins and East Ridge for away games during the upcoming campaign.
The Raiders are set to compete with Jenkins, Phelps, Pikeville and South Floyd in Class A, District 8.
Mayfield is the three-time defending Class A state champion but won’t be back to vie for another title. Via realignment, Mayfield has moved to Class 2A.
Other Class A teams are Crittenden County, Fulton City, Fulton County, Russellville, Bethlehem, Campbellsville, Caverna, Fort Knox, Eminence, Frankfort, Holy Cross (Louisville), Kentucky Country Day, Beechwood, Bellevue, Dayton, Ludlow, Berea, Bishop Brossart, Bracken County, Nicholas County, Paris, Fairview, Paintsville, Raceland, Harlan, Hazard, Lynn Camp, Pineville and Williamsburg.
