BETSY LAYNE – Betsy Layne is set to host one of the area’s largest high school football scrimmages. On Aug. 12, Betsy Layne, Allen Central, Breathitt County and Pike County Central will take to the Bobcats’ home field for a preseason prep football event.

The Betsy Layne-hosted scrimmage is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.

Betsy Layne will host its annual Blue-White Night on Aug. 5.

The Bobcats finished the 2015 season 0-10. Betsy Layne will host county rival South Floyd for a 2016 season-opener on Aug. 19. Following its season-opener versus county rival South Floyd, Betsy Layne will remain at home to face Morgan County on Aug. 26.

Allen Central ended the 2015 season 5-5. The Rebels will visit Phelps for a 2016 season-opener on Aug. 19. After its season-opener and following an open date, Allen Central will remain on the road for a second straight game, visiting Morgan County on Sept. 2. The Rebels are slated to host Jenkins for a home opener on Sept. 9.

Breathitt County concluded the 2015 season 4-7 following a loss to Casey County in the first round of the Class 3A State Playoffs. The Bobcats from Jackson will kick off the 2016 season at Perry County Central on Aug. 26. Breathitt County has the first week of the 2016 season as its open date and is set to host Cincinnati Hill Christian Academy in a home opener on Sept. 3.

Pike County Central exited the 2015 season with a 3-8 record. The Hawks lost to Russell in the opening round of the 2016 Class 3A State Playoffs. Pike County Central will visit Letcher County Central for its 2016 season opener on Aug. 19. The Hawks are scheduled to meet Shelby Valley in the Pike County Bowl on Aug. 26.
