P’burg set to host scrimmage

PRESTONSBURG – Prestonsburg will welcome in Knott County Central, Powell County and Letcher County Central for a four-team high school football scrimmage on Friday evening.

The Prestonsburg-hosted scrimmage is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.

Matchups for the first 45 minutes of the scrimmage will be as follows: Knott County Central vs. Prestonsburg (school end zone); Powell County vs. Letcher County Central (scoreboard end zone).

Matchups for the second 45 minutes of the preseason event will be as follows: Prestonsburg vs. Powell County (scoreboard endzone); Letcher County Central vs. Knott County Central (school end zone).

Following a 10 minute break, all four teams will participate in a down and distance session. The schedule for the down and distance session follows.

Defense 1: Powell County vs. Letcher County Central, Knott County Central, Prestonsburg.

Defense 2: Prestonsburg vs. Knott County Central, Letcher County Central, Powell County.

Defense 3: Letcher County Central vs. Prestonsburg, Knott County Central, Powell County.

Defense 4: Knott County Central vs. Pretsonsburg, Powell County, Letcher County Central.

During the down and distance session, a defense will stay on the field to face all three teams. The offensive unit that starts the series will remain on the field until stopped on downs, scoring a touchdown or turning the football over at which point the next offense will take the field to play based on the schedule.

Continuing to prepare for the 2016 season, Prestonsburg has practiced throughout the week.
