PHS squad claims camp title


The Prestonsburg High School cheerleading squad was named the Overall Game Day Champion at the UCA (Universal Cheerleading Association) Camp.

PRESTONSBURG – The Prestonsburg High School cheerleading program captured another title earlier in the month when it was named the Overall Game Day Champion at the UCA (Universal Cheerleading Association) Camp in Gatlinburg, Tenn.

Excelling throughout the camp, Prestonsburg placed second in Extreme Routine. The squad also featured two Jump-Off finalists and claimed Blue Superior Ribbons.

In addition to the team honors, numerous individuals thrived for the Prestonsburg cheerleading program.

Prestonsburg cheerleader Hannah Little was selected to try out for UCA Staff. Little, Maddy Ousley, Sammie Prater, McKenzie Little and Shannon Patrick were each named All-American.

Prestonsburg competed against 17 other high school squads during the camp. Members of the Prestonsburg squad also received an educational opportunity, learning about the history of America and native animals. The Prestonsburg cheerleaders also attended a show at Dixie Stampede.
