EASTERN – Darlene Moore guided the Allen Central volleyball team to a win in her first match as the squad’s head coach. Allen Central shut out Belfry 3-0 at J.E. Campbell Arena on Tuesday evening.
Prevailing in three straight sets, Allen Central beat Belfry 25-19, 25-18, 25-12.
Moore replaced legendary head coach Larry Maynard at the top of the Lady Rebel volleyball program.
Allen Central thrived throughout the match, pulling away to win in impressive fashion against a longtime 15th Region opponent.
Julia Flanery led the Allen Central attack with a match-high 16 goals.
Allen Central used a balanced attack to defeat its 15th Region counterpart.
Kelsie Jackson contributed 10 kills, Karlee Moore chipped in six and Amber Stumbo added two for the Lady Rebels in the victory.
Lakyn Wallace provided a match-high 26 assists as Allen Central won.
Lauryn Stumbo paced the Lady Rebel defensive backcourt with 23 digs, the most of any player in the season opener.
Kyra Harmon and Megan Jones pitched in with seven digs each for the Lady Rebels.
Allen Central is slated to host South Floyd for a 58th District/Floyd County Conference match on Tuesday, Aug. 23. The lady Rebels will begin competing in the 15th Region All “A” Classic at the end of the month.
