Ousley leads Prestonsburg past Paintsville

PRESTONSBURG – Freshman Makayla Ousley scored three goals to lead host Prestonsburg past Paintsville 6-1 in a 57th District girls’ soccer match at StoneCrest on Tuesday.

Prestonsburg moved to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the 57th District with the win.

With the loss, Paintsville dropped to 0-2-1 overall and 0-1 in the district.

Following Ousley in the Prestonsburg scoring column, senior McKenzie Little netted two goals.

Rounding out the Prestonsburg individual scoring, freshman Elizabeth Burchett contributed one goal for the Lady Blackcats.

Burchett recorded a game-high four assists.

Helping out the Prestonsburg offensive effort, junior Christin Mitchell and senior Carly Burchett delivered one assist apiece for the Lady Blackcats.

Defensively for Prestonsburg, junior goalkeeper Hannah Stratton held Paintsville to only goal.

Through four games, Prestonsburg has outscored opponents 22-2.

Junior Tori Nordin scored Paintsville’s only goal in the loss.

Through three games, opponents have doubled up Paintsville 14-7 in the scoring column.

Prestonsburg is slated to visit Paintsville on Sept. 15.

The Lady Blackcats were due to visit Johnson Central for another 57th District match on Thursday. Prestonsburg is scheduled to face South Laurel on Saturday then battle Lawrence County on Tuesday, Aug. 30.

The Lady Blackcats have additional regular-season games remaining versus Ashland Blazer, Johnson Central, East Carter, Sheldon Clark, Letcher County Central, Breathitt County, Hazard and Perry County Central.
