MT. JULIET, Tenn. – The University of Pikeville men’s golf team shot a 593 (298-295) over two rounds at the Mid-South Conference Fall Invitational to finish seventh overall on Tuesday. Roger Maynard led the way, finishing tied for 11th with a score of 145 (76-69).
Maynard was one of two UPIKE golfers to finish in the top 20 as Trey Isenberg shot a consistent 73-73 to tie for 16th place with a score of 146.
Credit Maynard for keeping the Bears in seventh as Georgetown was creeping up just four strokes behind. The newcomer went from a 76 over the first 18 holes, to dropping his score by seven strokes on Tuesday.
Cumberlands captured the team championship with a score of 567 (281-286) and was the only team in the field to shoot under par. Lindsey Wilson took second place with 568 (292-276) strokes and Campbellsville finished third with a 570 (290-280).
Freed-Hardeman, which finished fourth as a team, had the individual winner as Easton Lavelle fired a 132 (67-65), good for 10-under par.
UPIKE will be back in action on Oct. 2-3 in its own UPIKE Fall Invitational at StoneCrest Golf Course in Prestonsburg.
