EASTERN – Allen Central is ranked 23rd in the latest Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association (KVCA) Poll.
The Rebels boast a 17-6 record. Over the weekend, Allen Central finished 2-2 in the All “A” State Tournament.
The Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association announced its latest high school poll on Tuesday. Sacred Heart overtook the number one spot in the poll with 11 first place votes. Assumption dropped to number two, receiving eight first-place votes.
Mercy, Henry Clay and Tates Creek round out the top five in the poll.
The coaches poll also includes North Oldham (6), Notre Dame (7), Presentation (8), St. Henry (9), Paul Laurence Dunbar (10), Ryle (11), McCracken County (12), Cooper (13), Christian Academy-Louisville (14), Greenwood (15), Male (16), Central Hardin (17), Scott (18), Apollo (19), Holy Cross (Louisville) (20), Newport Central Catholic (21), Beechwood (22), Allen Central (23), Eastern (24) and Owensboro Catholic (25).
Allen Central, under the direction of first-year head coach Darlene Moore, blanked Monroe County 2-0 (25-10, 25-16) and outlasted Edmonson County 2-1 (21-25, 25-20, 25-22) in the All “A” State Tournament in Louisville on Saturday. The Rebels suffered shutout losses to St. Henry and Kentucky Country Day during the statewide tournament. St. Henry shut out Allen Central 2-0 (25-16, 25-15). In another match, Kentucky Country Day blanked the Rebels 2-0 (25-22, 25-18).
Allen Central was hosting Prestonsburg for a 58th District match at press time on Thursday. Results from the Allen Central-Prestonsburg match were unavailable at press time. The Rebels have additional regular season matches remaining versus Prestonsburg, Betsy Layne, South Floyd, Pike County Central, Hazard, Paintsville and Johnson Central.
