Prestonsburg shuts out Sheldon Clark, 6-0

INEZ – Prestonsburg shut out familiar rival Sheldon Clark 6-0 in a 57th District girls’ soccer match on Thursday night.

The Lady Blackcats earned their seventh straight win.

With the win, 15th Region All “A” Classic champion Prestonsburg improved to 12-0-2 overall and 6-0-0 in the 57th District.

Sheldon Clark slipped to 2-9-0 overall and 0-6-0 in the district with the loss.

Elizabeth Burchett recorded a hat trick to lead Prestonsburg to the win. Burchett scored three goals and distributed an assist for the Lady Blackcats in the victory.

Accompanying Burchett in the Prestonsburg scoring column, Sierra Crawford, McKenzie Little and Makayla Ousley netted one goal apiece.

Jillian Kidd provided assists on two of Prestonsburg’s six goals in the shutout win.

Defensively for the Lady Blackcats, goalkeeper Hannah Stratton held Sheldon Clark scoreless.

Through 14 games, Prestonsburg has outscored opponents 60-7.

The Lady Blackcats visited Sheldon Clark before traveling to Frankfort to meet Third Region champion Owensboro Catholic in the All “A” Classic State Tournament.
