BETSY LAYNE – Junior Nathan Keathley accounted for all of Betsy Layne’s points in a Class 2A, District 8 game versus Floyd County rival Allen Central on Thursday night. A first-year member of the Betsy Layne football team, Keathley has overcame odds throughout his life.
Keathley’s parents were told he would never walk or talk after he was born. The first-year Betsy Layne football player returned a late kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown and added a two-point conversion following his TD during the game against Allen Central.
Longtime county high school football foes Betsy Layne and Allen Central teamed up to make both the touchdown and two-point conversion possible.
“Being able to coach Nathan is something I will never forget,” said Betsy Layne Coach Jon Parsons confided. “Nathan is an amazing young man and we are blessed to have him on our team. He is truly an inspiration to our team and our community.”
Keathley has been a member of the Betsy Layne football team throughout the 2016 season. The Bobcats have games remaining versus district rivals East Ridge and Prestonsburg.
