LOUISA – The Tug Valley Bass Anglers held its eighth tournament of the 2016 season on Yatesville Lake on Sunday. A total 26 anglers competed in the event, with Don Newman weighing in three fish for a total of 8.75 pounds to win the event.
Yatesville Lake was at normal pool with a water temperature around 65 to 67 degrees. The lake was turning over and half of it featured coffee colored water.
Weather for the tournament was solid with mostly sunny skies and an air temperature in the 70’s.
Several fish were caught in the creeks and on the main lake from one to six feet of water.
The main pattern for the tournament was to fish top water first thing in the morning, after the sun came out slow down and fish tight to cover with jigs, soft plastics, spinnerbaits and crankbaits.
The top finishers were as follows: 1st – Don Newman (3 fish), 8.75 lbs.; 2nd – Kevin Runyon (4 fish), 7.73 lbs.; 3rd – Joe Collins (2 fish) 6.27 lbs.; 4th – Tommy Hopkins (3 fish) 6.19 lbs.; 5th – Gary Varney (2 fish), 5.49 lbs.; 6th – Mike Patrick (2 fish), 4.62 lbs.; 7th – Lynn Fields (1 fish), 4.55 lbs.; 8th – Steve Cullop (2 fish), 3.76 lbs.; 9th – Lacy Edmiston (1 fish), 3.63 lbs.; 10th – MO (1 fish), 3.39 lbs.
