RICHMOND – Eastern Kentucky University Director of Athletics Steve Lochmueller announced the hiring of Grant Stepp as the department’s new Ticket Manager on Wednesday.
Stepp comes to EKU from Western Kentucky University, where he had served as the Ticket Operations Manager since 2011. He replaces Mike Park, who is retiring after working at EKU in various capacities for the last 24 years.
“While it is certainly bittersweet that we will see Mike retire after giving so many great years of service to the University, we are so excited to welcome Grant to Richmond and the EKU athletics family,” Deputy Director of Athletics Matt Roan said. “His experience and knowledge will be a tremendous asset for us moving forward.”
Stepp will oversee the sale of athletics tickets at EKU, account for revenue from those sales and assist in the development and coordination of marketing materials to support those sales. He will also supervise ticket office staff and train event staff on ticket operations procedure and customer service.
At WKU, Stepp was in charge of the day-to-day financial accounting, annual budget and internal audits of the Hilltopper ticketing operation. While managing and supervising the ticket office staff, he devised creative and cost-effective incentives and morale-boosting programs that increased customer satisfaction and participation.
Stepp also reworked and developed the athletics ticket office procedural manual during his time at WKU, and he supervised logistical delivery methods for event tickets to thousands of individuals at multiple locations in various cities and states.
Prior to becoming the Ticket Operations Manager at WKU, Stepp served as the Coordinator of Event/Game Day Operations for the Hilltopper athletics program from 2009-11.
The native of Versailles, Kentucky graduated from WKU with a bachelor’s degree in finance in 2006. He earned his master’s degree in sports administration from EKU in 2010.
Stepp’s father, Edward, was an assistant women’s basketball coach at EKU from 1993-95.
