EASTERN – A dozen different Rebels broke into the scoring column as Allen Central defeated visiting Piarist School 67-32 in the final boys’ high school basketball team for the tradition-rich AC program at J.E. Campbell Arena on Friday night.
With the win in the regular-season finale, Allen Central improved to 13-14.
Piarist School dropped to 1-26 with the loss.
Familiar foes, Allen Central and Piarist are former 58th District/Floyd County Conference rivals.
Allen Central, under the direction of veteran head coach Brad Short, shot 50 percent (22-of-44) from the field. The Rebels were 10-of-24 (41.7 percent) from 3-point range.
Allen Central shot 60 percent (3-of-5) from the free throw line.
The Rebels moved ahead early and never looked back. Allen Central dominated throughout the regular-season finale.
Cody Haddix led Allen Central with 14 points. Joining Haddix in double figures for the Rebels, Devon Robinson contributed 10 points.
Aaron Martin netted eight points and Allen May added seven points for the Rebels in the convincing victory.
Other scorers for Allen Central were Cameron Nelson (six points), Ethan Smith-Mills (five points), Hayden Hall (four points), Dylan Caudill (three points), Rylee Samons (three points), Kolby Slone (three points), Kevin Chaffins (two points) and Payton Tackett (two points).
Skylar Williams led Piarist with a game-high 24 points. Williams, the only Piarist player to reach double figures in the scoring column, drained a trio of 3-point field goals for the Kevin Tackett-coached Knights.
Kyle Price scored six points, while Steven Misczenski and Alex Misczenski chipped in two points apiece for Piarist in the loss.
