Ladycats fend off Jenkins, 61-48

BETSY LAYNE – The Betsy Layne Ladycats defeated the visiting Jenkins Lady Cavaliers 61-48 in their regular-season finale at the Dome on Friday night.

Betsy Layne recognized its three seniors – Alex Sisco, Kaitlin Kidd and Summer Johnson – as part of senior night activities.

Junior guard Megan Frazier paced the Ladycats in the win. Frazier scored a career-high 32 points, connecting on 14 field goals and shooting 80 percent from the free throw line.

Destiny Compton also reached double figures in the Betsy Layne scoring column, contributing 16 points for the Ladycats. Both Compton and Frazier recorded a double-double. Compton pulled down 14 rebounds, while Frazier grabbed a game-high 19 boards.

Kidd hit the only 3-pointer of the game for the Ladycats as she and the other seniors rounded out Betsy Layne’s scoring in the regular-season finale.

Betsy Layne wrapped up its regular season 13-16 overall and 3-3 in the 58th District. The Ladycats were set to face Prestonsburg (8-21 overall, 4-2 district) in the first round action of the 58th District Girls’ Basketball Tournament at the Dome on Tuesday. The Betsy Layne-Prestonsburg girls’ basketball game ended too late to make this edition.
