AMS Dance Cats place first in Prop

The Adams Middle School Dance Cats earned a state championship over the weekend.


PRESTONSBURG – The tradition-rich Adams Middle School dance program captured another state title over the weekend.

The Adams Middle School Dance Cats turned in a first-place performance in the Kentucky Dance Coach Organization’s state competition in Frankfort.

The AMS Dance Cats placed first in Prop and second in both Pom and Jazz.

“The board team and I want to congratulate the Adams Dance Team and Coach (Melissa) Smith on these achievements,” said Floyd County Superintendent Dr. Henry Webb. “We’re happy to see our kids excel and know there’s always hard work, dedication and teamwork involved when you get to the state level.”

Members of the AMS Dance Cats squad are Emily F. Adkins, Kassidy Blackburn, Shelby Blackburn, Kadynce Hackworth, Tamara Hayton, Jaden Minix, Alissa Mullins, Lauren Patton, Chelsea Reynolds, Chloe Reynolds, Kimberly Slone, Kynzi Slone and Erin West. Coach Melissa Smith guides the AMS Dance Cats.
