PRESTONSURG – A talented 18-year-old artist, Dakota Collins is a Floyd County Early College Academy student at Big Sandy Community and Technical College and will graduate in May. Her art work is currently on display at the Mountain Art Center.

Collins took up painting when she was a freshman in High School. Collins says she loves the visual aspect of art and how the flow of the brush creates a calming effect on so many different individuals.

She is an active member of the Kentucky Art Tribe and creates mainly with acrylics. Collins hopes to attend Eastern Kentucky University in the fall and minor in Visual Art.

Collins has displayed her work at the Mountain Arts Center, McGuire’s Brickhouse, Grayson Art Gallery, BSCTC and the Kentucky State Fair.

The Mountain Art’s Center will host a reception for Ms. Collins’ art exhibition Tuesday, March 22 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Refreshments will be served. Come out to support local talent of Eastern Kentucky.
