PAINTSVILLE – Johnson Central High School graduate Braxton Blair was scheduled to sign with the Alice Lloyd College men’s basketball program on Tuesday.
Blair ended his senior season as one of the state’s top high school guards.
During his high school career, Blair helped to lead the Golden Eagles to four straight 15th Region championships as a starting point guard.
Also an amateur boxer, Blair (6-0, 185) finished his prep career with 1,507 points (eighth all-time at JCHS), 500 assists (first all-time at JCHS), 470 rebounds (ninth all-time at JCHS) and 238 steals (second all-time at JCHS).
The productive Blair played in 137 games (first all-time at JCHS), started 128 games (second all-time at JCHS) and played 3,762 minutes (first all-time at JCHS; averaged 27.5 minutes per game for his career).
Blair delivered two career double-doubles during his prep career.
Winning four consecutive 15th Region titles (Elite 8 in 2014), Blair was named the 2015 15th Region Tournament MVP. He was a four-year All-15th Region selection.
Blair will have an opportunity to play right away for the Alice Lloyd men’s basketball team, which competes in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC).
