Elder Walter Burke, age 95, of Bevinsville, KY., widower of Nannie King Burke, died Friday, February 12, 2016 at his residence. He was born July 7, 1920 in Bevinsville, a son of the late King David “KD” and Sophia Isaac Burke. Walter was a retired coal miner, UMWA member and Old Regular Baptist Minister, being a member and moderator of the Little Rock Regular Baptist Church for 40 years. He loved to read his bible and garden as a pastime.

He is survived by one son, Luceifer (Patricia) Burke, Bevinsville, KY,, two daughters; Yvonne (Tommy) Yonts, Bevinsville, KY., Jennifer (Varnie) Breeding, Isom, KY., eleven grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren, one daughter-in-law, Elaine Burke, and one son-in-law, Bert Newsome.

In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by one son, Roland Burke, one daughter, Eloise Newsome, three brothers, Garfield, Daniel and Russell Burke, and five sisters, Liza Jane Johnson, Dwella Hall, Julia Breeding, Annie Burke and Maggie Burke.

Funeral service for Walter Burke were conducted Tuesday, February 16 in the Little Rock Old Regular Baptist Church, Bevinsville, with the Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial followed in the Walter Burke Family Cemetery, Bevinsville, with the Hall Funeral Home caring for those arrangements. Visitation was held Sunday at the church.
