Virginia Cassell Slone, age 105, of McDowell wife of late Helton Slone, passed away Thursday, March 24 at the McDowell ARH in McDowell, Ky. She was born March 24, 1911 in Inez, Ky., a daughter of the late James and Mary Smith Cassell. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by three sons; Ray (Violet)Slone, Vernon Kelly (Mary) Slone and Ralph Allen Slone all of McDowell and Sandra Faye Slone, of Staffordsville and one sone-in-law, Carlos Neeley, of Prestonsburg, former daughter-in-law, Lynn Slone, ten grandchildren; Charles Neeley, Julian Slone, Renee Frasure, Tish Sturgill, Jenny Lynn Slone, Tiffney Triplett, Beth Grim, Ralph Shannon Slone, Brent Helton Slone and Keisha Hicks and twelve great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by one daughter, Norma Jean Slone Neeley, two brothers; Raleigh and Josh Cassell, four sisters; Renda Stumbo, Eunia Lewis, Ellen Bianco and Mary Blankenship and one great grandchild.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, March 27 at 2 p.m. in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel with Ted Shannon officiating. Burial will follow in the Slone Family Cemetery, at Doty Creek in McDowell. Visitation was held from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. Friday March 25 and all day until 10 p.m. Saturday, March 26 at the funeral home. Services were conducted under the kind and professional care of Hall Funeral Home of Martin.
