BETSY LAYNE The Calvary Southern Baptist Church will soon have a new addition to its existing location, a project which several turned out to break ground for this past Sunday
Church members and others broke ground for their new sanctuary and fellowship hall. The two buildings, connected by a covered breezeway, will be built near their current location behind the Betsy Layne Fire Department.
This is a great challenge for us and we have stepped out in faith and accepted the challenge, said Pastor Doug Lewis. Our members are very excited about this and we are trusting God to provide and complete this work through us and others He sends to help us.
Construction on the 11,400 square foot facility is scheduled to begin right away.
The project will enable the church to expand its youth programs and community outreach services and provide a welcome place for anyone seeking a place to worship, work and serve the lord, Lewis said.
Church members have not said how long they expect construction to take before the new facilities are complete.
