James D. Burchett

James D. Burchett, 71, of Cow Creek, Prestonsburg, died Saturday, September 30, 2006, at his residence.

Born September 3, 1935, in Floyd County, he was the son of the late Lewis and Dicy Kendrick Burchett. He was a retired dozer operator for Coal MAC and construction worker, and was a member of the Cow Creek Freewill Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Maxzenia Blackburn Burchett.

Other survivors include a daughter, Terry Prater of David; a brother, Sanford Burchett of Prestonsburg; five grandchildren: Joshua, Christopher, Amanda, Amy, and Matthew; and four great-grandchildren: Rimini, Lainie, Caleb, and Carston.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gary Lewis Burchett; and a sister, Geneva Leake.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 3, at 1 p.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, in Martin, with Nathan Lafferty officiating.

Burial was in the Jim Burchett Cemetery at Cow Creek, in Prestonsburg,

Rachel Irick Clark

Rachel Irick Clark, age 82, of Harold, the wife of the late Lonzo Curtis Clark, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2006, in the Prestonsburg Health Care Center.

She was born March 1, 1924, in Boldman, the daughter of the late Grover Irick and Mary Hall Irick. She was a member of the Church of Christ, in Spurlock, and a homemaker.

Survivors include one son, Curtis Clark of Honaker; one brother, Harry “Sonny” Irick of Betsy Layne; two sisters: Marion Conn of Jackson, Ohio, and Audrey Parsons of Honaker; two grandchildren: Kevin Curtis Clark and Kimberly Clark Hinkle; two great-grandchildren: Peyton Curtis Clark and Alexander Clark Hinkle.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Laura Clark Robinette; five brothers: Van Irick, Abb Irick, Taylor Irick, Newton Irick, and Clyde Irick; and two sisters: Really Clark and Jane Denham.

Funeral services for Rachel Irick Clark were conducted Tuesday, October 3, at 1 p.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, in Martin, with clergymen Richard Bowens and Bruce Coleman officiating.

Burial was in the K.F. Clark Cemetery, in Honaker, under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home.

Chattie Martin Dingus

Chattie Martin Dingus, 91, of Printer, died Sunday, October 1, 2006, at the Riverview Healthcare Center in Prestonsburg.

Born July 5, 1915, in Martin, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Amy Halbert Martin. She was a homemaker and a member of the Martin First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Dingus.

Other survivors include a daughter, Merlene Dingus of Printer; a granddaughter, Amy Martin Shepherd of Printer; and a brother, Frank Martin of Printer.

In addition to her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Martin.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 4, at 1 p.m. at the Drift Pentecostal Church, with Ted Shannon officiating.

Burial will be in the Halbert Cemetery at Printer, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, in Martin.

Visitation was at the church, with nightly services at 6:30 p.m.

Jeanette Stella Gardner Fitzpatrick

Jeanette Stella Gardner Fitzpatrick, 80, of Prestons-burg, died Saturday, September 30, 2006, at High-lands Re-gional Medical Center.

Born January 29, 1926, in Glen Morgan, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late William Harrison Gardner and Rachel Mitchell Gardner. She was a former salesperson for Hobbs 5 & 10 cent store, and the Dairy Queen, in Prestonsburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jewell “Stinkey” Fitzpatrick.

Survivors include three sisters: Bonnie Gibson and Una Gardner, both of Prestonsburg, and Oma Moore of Kingsport, Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Bessie Young; and a brother, Billy Gardner.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 3, at 1 p.m., at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Gary Smith officiating.

Interment was at Davidson Memorial Gardens, in Ivel.

Clyde Joseph Greer

Clyde Joseph Greer, age 89, of Printer, husband of the late Margie Edith Conn Greer, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2006, in the Prestonsburg Health Care Center.

He was born March 12, 1917, in Pike County, the son of the late Colbert Greer and Drusilla Mullins Greer. He was a self-employed logger, and a member of the Spurlock Church of Christ, in Printer.

Survivors include two sons: Donald Ray Greer of Pikeville, and Kenny Greer of Martin; six daughters: Phyllis Jean Lawson of Printer, Mary Rose of Prestonsburg, Betty Hall of Banner, Esther Adkins of Prestonsburg, Naomi Haughtln of Norwalk, Ohio, and Hermalene Harvey of Collins, Ohio; one brother, Elmer Greer of Dana; two sisters: Gladys Conn and Lexie Salisbury, both of Martin, 36 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Hubert Gene Greer; one daughter, Madeline Gail Akers; one grandson, James Carl Conn; and a great-granddaughter, Courtney Tackett.

The family would like to thank the ones who helped dig the grave of Clyde Greer: Harry Dale Lawson, Hubert Gene Lawson, Hubert Lawson, Earl Lee Hall, Bobby Jr. Greer, Cornelius Spears, Harold Spears, Harold Hall, Glen Hall, and Daniel Howell.

Funeral services for Clyde Joseph Greer were conducted Sunday, October 1, at 3 p.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, in Martin, with Bruce Coleman, Richard Bowens, Ronnie Samons, and Roy Robinson officiating.

Burial was in the Jeff Hunter Cemetery, in Printer, under the professional care of Hall Funeral Home.

Clarence Ray Kidd

Clarence Ray Kidd, age 40, of Dana, died Monday, October 2, 2006, at his residence.

Born March 20, 1966, in Ohio, he was the son of James and Betty Keathley Kidd of Dana. He was disabled.

In addition to his parents, survivors include a son, Jason Ryan Kidd of Pike County; two brothers: Gary Kidd and James Brian Kidd, both of Dana; a sister: Jamie Kidd of Betsy Layne; two nephews: Brandon Kidd and James Ricky Lewis; and a niece, Amber Kidd.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 4, at 11 a.m., at the Sammy Clark Freewill Baptist Church, in Harold, with Mike Howard officiating.

Burial will be in the Kidd & Boyd Cemetery, in Dana, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, in Martin.

Joseph Osborne

Joseph Osborne, 82, of Bevinsville, died Sunday, October 1, 2006, at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital.

Born January 14, 1924, in Buckingham, he was the son of the late Maryland and Elizabeth Cook Osborne. He was a retired coal miner; a U.S. Army World War II veteran; a member of Chapter 128 Garrett D.A.V.; and a member of the Wheelwright Freewill Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine Conley Osborne.

Other survivors include: Three daughters: Janet O. Pack of Mt. Washington, Donna Jo Conway of Louisville, and Vonda Osborne of Columbus, Ohio; four grandchildren: Tim, David, Blake and Kaelyn; and three great-grandchildren: Tony, Henry Joseph, and Kylie.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Everett Osborne, Elmer Osborne, and Ellis Osborne; and five sisters: Barbara Johnson, Carrie Hall, Francis Stancil, Virgilene Osborne, and Nevada Hall.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 4, at 11 a.m., at the Wheelwright Freewill Baptist Church at Bypro, with Louis Ferrari officiating.

Burial will be in the Buckingham Cemetery, at Bevinsville, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, in Martin.

Visitation is at the church.

Goldie Frasure Ousley

Goldie Frasure Ousley, age 86, of Prestonsburg, widow of Alonzo Ousley, passed away Friday, September 29, 2006, at her residence.

She was born February 11, 1920, in Martin, the daughter of the late William Frasure and Julie Ousley Frasure. She was a homemaker and a member of the Regular Baptist Church.

Survivors include a brother, Larry James Ousley of Richmond; a sister, Alice Robinson of Martin; and a grandchild, Jonathan Brannon.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Melvin Frasure and Luther Frasure; and a sister, Mable Barton.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, October 1, at 11 a.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, in Martin, with Regular Baptist ministers officiating.

Burial was in the Richmond Cemetery, Prestonsburg, under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home.

Laura Clark Robinette

Laura Clark Robinette, age 57, of Harold, wife of David G. Robinette, passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2006, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, Lexington.

She was born February 19, 1949, in Honaker, the daughter of Rachel Irick Clark of Honaker, and the late Lonzo Clark. She was a dental assistant.

In addition to her husband, David, she is survived by a brother, Curtis Clark of Honaker; a nephew, Kevin Clark; a niece, Kimberly Clark Hinkle; and two great-nephews: Peyton Clark and Alexander Hinkle.

Funeral services for Laura Clark Robinette were conducted Sunday, October 1, at 1:30 p.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, in Martin, with Ronnie Samons officiating.

Burial was in the Clark Cemetery, in Honaker, under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home.

Maurine Scutchfield

Maurine Scutchfield, 76, of Prestonsburg, died Saturday, September 30, 2006, at Highlands Regional Medical Center, in Prestonsburg.

Born April 4, 1930, in West Prestonsburg, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary Jane Horn Harmon. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Third Avenue Freewill Baptist Church, in Prestonsburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ermal Scutchfield.

Survivors include a son: David Scutchfield of Prestonsburg; a daughter, Sandra Frasure (Clarence) of Prestonsburg; two sisters: Doris Stafford of Warsaw, Indiana; and Nancy Snipes of Burgaw, North Carolina; two grandchildren: Steven Frasure (Stormie) and Bryan Scutchfield (fiancee, Heather); and several nieces and nephews

In addition to her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Harmon.

Funeral services were held Monday, October 2, at 11 a.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, in Martin, with Bill Marsillett officiating.

Burial was in Mayo Cemetery in Prestonsburg.

Ida Mae Gibson Younce

Ida Mae Gibson Younce, 78, of Weeksbury, was born March 20, 1928, the daughter of the late Sally Ann and Hillard Gibson. She left this life on September 27, 2006, to go home.

Ida married Earl Younce on July 12, 1956, at Wheelwright, Kentucky, and to this marriage came 13 children.

Ida was preceeded in death by two sons: Melvin Younce and Garry Younce; four brothers: Luther Gibson, Dewey Gibson, Ballard Gibson, and Ellis Gibson, and seven sisters: Draxie Collins, Hattie Cole, Zettie Johnson, Ethel Calhoun, Lettie Hall, Maggie Campbell and Mary Liz Caudill.

Ida is survived by 11 beloved children and their spouses: Janet (Paul Dean) Hall, Sherry (Buford) Thomas, Johnny (Sharon) Younce, Glenda (Olin Gene) Amburgey, Kenny Younce, Ricky (Mary Jane) Younce, Paul (Cathy) Younce, Peggy (Jeff) Edwards, Terry (Patricia) Younce, Sammy (Lori) Younce, and Brenda (Tommy) Hall; 29 grandchildren, 12 step-grandchldren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 14 step-great-grandchildren.

Ida came to Joppa Old Regular Baptist Church many years ago, and became a member in September, 1976. She was laid to rest at the Harris Cemetery, on Abner, Saturday, the 30th day of September, 2006. (Paid obituary)
