KCC to host annual Senior All-Star Game

HINDMAN - Knott County Central High School’s Morton Combs Athletic Complex will play host to the fourth annual Gatorade Appalachian Senior All-Stars girls’ and boys’ basketball games on Saturday, April 14. According to Tri-State Sports Promotions Service co-director Ira C. Combs, rosters will be finalized and released for the games this week during the Boys’ Sweet Sixteen.

The event’s activities will be highlighted by a three-point-shooting contest and a slam dunk contest held among the All-stars.

The girls’ game will tip off at 6 p.m. with the boys’ contest to follow at approximately 7:45 p.m. Each game will have individual skills competition at halftime with the highlight. The annual Slam Dunk contest will take place at halftime of the boys’ game .

Coaches for the 4th annual Gatorade Appalachian Senior All Star games are as follows: Girls North All Stars: Peggy Moore, Breathitt County; Girls South All Stars: Chuck Mitchell .

Boys North All Stars: Steve Banks, Breathitt County; Boys South All Stars: Eddie Whitaker, Bell County.

The All-Stars games are returning to Knott County after being held in Hazard at Perry County Central’s John C. Combs Arena each of the last two years.
