She was born March 9, 1930, in Martin, a daughter of the late John and Rosie Kidd Gillespie. She was a member of the Little Salem Old Regular Baptist Church, of Dana, and a retired cashier from Aimes.
Survivors include one son, Calvin (Virginia) Akers, of Spring Hill, Tenn.; one daughter, Deborah Alice (John) Hall, of Knoxville, Tenn.; one brother, Ed Gillespie, of Dana; two sisters, Goldie May Horn, of Edgartown, W.Va., and Bonnie Manns, of Milford, Ind.; three grandchildren, Calvin Akers Jr., Susan Renee Graham and Johnny Hall Jr.; and four great grandchildren, Cody Stephen Hatler Akers, Cameron Akers, Jimmy DeWayne Graham and Caley Renee Akers.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death one brother, Ned Gillespie, and two sisters, Marie Daniels and Emogene Davis.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Aug. 27, at 11 a.m. in the Little Salem Old Regular Baptist Church, at Dana, with the Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Akers Cemetery, at Dana. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Home, and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, under the kind and professional care of the Hall Funeral Home, of Martin.
