PRESTONSBURG — Floyd County Schools announced this week that Prestonsburg High School has a new assistant principal.

Floyd County Supt. Henry Webb made the announcement Monday, welcoming Courtney DeRossett as the new assistant principal at PHS.

“We want to welcome Mrs. DeRossett to Floyd County Schools, and we look forward to working with her in this leadership role,” said Webb.

The position of assistant principal became available last month, when Tommy Poe left the position to be the new principal at Adams Middle School.

According to Floyd County Schools officials, DeRossett has worked in education for over nine years in varying capacities, including teacher, building assessment coordinator and school technology coordinator.

“I am excited about becoming a part of the Floyd County team and look forward to serving the students of Prestonsburg High School,” said Derossett.

DeRossett and her husband James reside in Prestonsburg and are expecting their first child
