ALLEN - Following a long offseason since its 2011 finale in October at the Talladega (Ala.) Short Track, the Brandon Kinzer Motorsports team was slated to open its 2012 campaign Friday night in Georgia. Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold was slated to host the Ultimate Super Late Model Series for a season-opener. The ‘Battle at the Border’ was set to pay $4,000 to the winner with veteran Late Model driver Brandon Kinzer (Allen) competing for the top prize. Rain, however, claimed the feature event. Kinzer is scheduled to return to Boyd’s Speedway on Saturday for an unsanctioned $3,000-to-win race.
